We believe every child should have access to nature. Friends provides youth from underserved portions of our community with 100% free environmental education opportunities, including transportation, meals and gear. We need support in covering these costs so that all youth gain the social-emotional and physical benefits of time outside.
We already had a partnership with PPSC, but now we are looking to provide aging in place programming at our David Yearsley's River Heritage Center in downtown Petaluma. We also connected with new youth and family focused organizations to ensure that more kids have access to our camps and watershed classroom programming.
We will continue to celebrate the Petaluma Watershed through education and multi-generational stewardship. We'll accomplish this through nature camps for children between the ages of 5 and 17, river cleanups, and our critical greenway project to fight the climate crises locally. Through strong community engagement, we'll recruite youth from underserved and underrepresented portions of the community to take part in our programs. We'll continue partner with Mentor Me and PPSC while covering 100% of the cost of our environmental education tuition to accomplish this goal. As an organization, we'll also continue prioritizing language justice to ensure that these programs are accessible to the entire community. We are the preeminent organization for building resilient solutions that protect and nourish the Petaluma River. And through Rotary providing a grant to our programs, we'll continue building stewardship for this and each successive generation of Petalumans.
We need volunteers for several events and activities that we host throughout the year including:
